“one of the best young singer-songwriters in America — maybe even the world. And he plays guitar like god on a good day.” - David Crosby
Marcus Eaton is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer known for his virtuosic guitar work, inventive looping performances, and emotionally resonant songwriting. Born in Pocatello, Idaho and raised in a musical household, Eaton developed an early sensitivity to melody and storytelling, influenced in part by his father’s work as a singer-songwriter. Drawing from the percussive clarity of flamenco, the intricacy of modern fingerstyle guitar, and the improvisational language often associated with jazz, Eaton has developed a distinctive style that merges technical mastery with a deeply expressive musical voice. A defining chapter of Eaton’s career began through his collaboration with the late David Crosby. Eaton co-wrote several songs for Crosby’s 2014 album Croz, contributing guitar and harmony vocals to the recordings and joining Crosby on the album’s accompanying tour. The two artists continued to perform together in the years that followed. Eaton later composed and produced the score for the Grammy-nominated documentary David Crosby: Remember My Name, directed by A.J. Eaton and produced by Cameron Crowe. In addition to his work as a recording artist, Eaton has expanded his career into film composition and music production. He contributed guitar to the score for the 2024 feature film The Book of Clarence and recently produced and performed on Stephen Bishop’s final studio album THIMK, a landmark recording featuring guest artists including Eric Clapton, Sting, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Art Garfunkel, Jimmy Webb, and Graham Nash.As a live performer, Eaton has toured internationally and shared stages with artists including Bob Dylan, Seal, Jewel, Jason Mraz, Stone Temple Pilots, Derek Trucks, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Victor Wooten. Eaton has also opened for artists including Dr. John, John Hiatt, Tim Reynolds, and Toots and the Maytals, and has appeared at festivals and events alongside musicians such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews, and Sheryl Crow.Eaton is currently releasing his latest solo album What Is Real, with new singles including Let Me Be Your Light arriving throughout the year. In addition to his work as a recording artist and producer, Eaton has collaborated with Guarnieri Guitars to develop a signature Marcus Eaton acoustic guitar model, the G1ME, reflecting his distinctive approach to tone, feel, and modern guitar technique.
